COCOA WITH A CONSCIENCE

Every time you buy a bag of Nōk Choc, you’ll know you’re giving back. Profits from each sale go to Let Girls Read, Run, Grow (LGRRG) — a charity that supports the development of African adolescent girls through education, athletics, and entrepreneurship.

Globally, girls face many challenges that can deter their access to education and opportunities to grow beyond their circumstances. Through forces beyond their control, many lack the support needed to thrive. LGRRG’s programs focus on empowering the whole self of each adolescent girl they touch. They look to develop her socially, physically, and financially such that she has a solid foundation with a fighting chance. By honing in on the three areas women lack opportunities in worldwide, LGRRG hopes to close the gap in opportunity for girls and increase the tangible potential for each life they touch.

“Girls education has proven to be one of the most cost-effective strategies to promote development and economic growth. Studies have shown that educated mothers tend to have healthier, better nourished babies, and that their own children are more likely to attend school; thus helping break the vicious cycle of poverty.”

–UNICEF

Education is not freely available to everyone - and in many parts of the world, girls are the first to be excluded from it. LGRRG will build a girls-only primary school in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. They hope to provide educational and leadership opportunities for academically gifted girls from impoverished backgrounds who exhibit qualities to make a difference in the world.
